Chapter One

Moderately
Best Friends

Mark Anderson and Ryan Fey have been best friends for more than 20 years. The two worked by day as advertising executives when they started cooking together for dinner parties and casual barbecues.

Their early appearances as guest executive chefs proved the concept: people wanted what these two guys were making. Not just the food, but the energy, the jokes, and the chaos that came with it.

Mark and Fey became known as the Grill Dads, and built a community around the belief that great food brings people together — one fire at a time.

We just started cooking for our friends. Then the friends kept inviting more friends.
